Question 10

How does your device trade-in process work, and how does it differ from traditional tech recycling?

Accepted Answer

A device trade-in focuses on paying you maximum cash value for your working or repairable electronics, whereas traditional recycling simply scraps non-functional hardware. When you sell used gadgets for cash through Gadget Buyer, our technicians assess screens, battery health, and internal components to deliver top market valuations—paid that exact same day via direct bank transfer or instant in-store cash. If a device has zero resale value or is completely obsolete, we provide 100% free eco-recycling to keep toxic electronic waste out of UK landfills. In short: trade-in pays you instant cash, while eco-recycling ensures safe, green disposal.

Question 11

What are the environmental benefits of trading in?

Accepted Answer

Trading in your device directly combats electronic waste and fuels the circular economy. Over 80% of a smartphone's lifetime carbon emissions are generated during raw material mining and manufacturing. By trading in your phone, tablet, or laptop for professional refurbishment, you extend its functional lifecycle by 2 to 4 years, dramatically reducing demand for freshly mined lithium, cobalt, and precious metals. Extending device lifecycles substantially lowers your individual carbon footprint, conserves water resources, and ensures that redundant tech is safely repurposed rather than sent to toxic UK landfills.

Question 12

Do you offer free eco-friendly recycling for zero-value or end-of-life tech?

Accepted Answer

We will buy most tech, but if a device holds no commercial market value, we will let you know if we can offer free eco-friendly recycling instead! If your old phone, tablet, or laptop is obsolete, completely non-functional, or holds zero cash value, we provide 100% free eco-recycling. We responsibly dismantle e-waste, harvest usable raw materials, and keep toxic electronic chemicals out of UK landfills—completely free of charge.

Question 13

Do you accept bulk trade-ins from businesses, schools, and organizations?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We specialize in bulk trade-ins and corporate IT asset recycling for businesses, schools, universities, business colleges, and councils. Whether you are clearing out end-of-life company laptops, iPads, or smartphones, we provide custom bulk valuations, dedicated account support, free logistics, and certified data wiping.

Question 14

What are the benefits of trade-ins for business devices, and how does your bulk valuation process work?

Question 16

What is your No-Fee Return Policy if my valuation changes?

Question 17

Is it free to send my item?

Accepted Answer

Question 18

How can I send my item?

Accepted Answer

Pack your device (or up to 2 mobile phones) in a padded envelope, or use a sturdy box that it comfortably fits in with enough packing material so it can't move around. Yes we do, as long as it has no Apple ID or Samsung account.

How long does it take for the package to arrive with you?

Using our free Royal Mail service, packages typically arrive within 1-2 working days. You'll receive a tracking number so you can monitor your package's progress. We recommend using the tracking service to confirm when your device has been delivered to our facility.

Question 24

Is the quote for my device guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

Your initial quote is based on the condition you select. The final price is confirmed after our technical inspection. If your device matches the condition you selected, you'll receive the full quoted amount. If our inspection valuation changes and you decide to decline our revised offer, we return your device completely free of charge under our No-Fee Return Guarantee.

Question 25

When do I get paid / how long does it take?

Accepted Answer

We process your payments the same day we receive your device, mostly instantly. At most the payment can take up to 5 working days for the payment to reflect in your account.

Question 26

What happens if there's a payment delay?

Accepted Answer

While over 95% of our trade-in payments are issued immediately via Faster Payments on the day of inspection, occasionally standard BACS processing times or bank clearance checks can take 1 to 3 working days (up to a maximum of 5 working days depending on your bank). If your payment is taking longer than expected or you need fast gadget cash confirmation, you can reach out directly to our dedicated WhatsApp support team on 07423 124321 with your order reference for instant status updates and live transaction tracking.

Question 27

What must I include with my handset?

Accepted Answer

We only require the phone itself. However, for laptops, you must include the charger.

Question 28

How should I prepare my Apple or Samsung device before sending?

Accepted Answer

To secure your personal data and guarantee instant same-day payment, you must fully unlink your personal cloud accounts and factory reset your device before packing it. Note: Activation locks (Find My for Apple and Reactivation Lock/FRP for Samsung) prevent our technicians from verifying your device, reducing your valuation to £0 if left active. Please prepare your device beforehand!

Question 29

Do you accept stolen phones?

Accepted Answer

No. We check all devices through CheckMEND, a leading crime protection database, to ensure they are not barred or registered as stolen.

Question 30

What if my phone is blocked?

Accepted Answer

We do not purchase blocked phones. If you are the rightful owner, we suggest you contact your network service provider to have your handset unblocked.

Question 31

What are your Royal Mail parcel insurance compensation limits, and what options are available for high-value flagship devices?

Accepted Answer

Every complimentary prepaid Royal Mail Tracked 48 label and Post Office paperless QR code includes standard transit loss and damage compensation cover up to £150, which is ideal for most mobile phones and tablets. For high-value flagship trade-ins (such as an iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or Samsung Galaxy S24/S25 Ultra valued over £150), we strongly recommend sending via Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm at your local Post Office branch. Special Delivery provides guaranteed next-day delivery, full signature tracking, and elevated compensation coverage options up to £750 or £2,500, ensuring complete financial protection and peace of mind.

Question 32

What are your device data wiping and privacy requirements?

Accepted Answer

Your data privacy is our top priority. We require all personal accounts (Apple iCloud / Find My and Google / Samsung FRP) to be removed and the device factory reset before dispatch. Upon arrival at our facility, our technicians perform a certified, GDPR-compliant multi-pass sanitisation data wipe to ensure 100% of all residual files, passwords, and private data are permanently and irreversibly destroyed.

Question 33

How does Activation Lock removal work and can I remove it remotely?

Accepted Answer

Activation Lock (such as Apple iCloud Find My, Google Account Lock, or Samsung Reactivation Lock) is a built-in security feature that protects your device against theft. For legal, data privacy, and testing verification purposes, all activation locks must be removed before we can complete your trade-in and issue payment. If you have already shipped your device, you can easily remove it remotely without having the phone in hand: for Apple devices, sign in to iCloud.com/find, select your device, and click 'Remove from Account'; for Android devices, visit your Google or Samsung account settings and remove the device from your registered devices list.

Question 34

Why is it important to remove Device Activation Locks like Apple's 'Find My' and Android's 'Reactivation Lock' before trade-in?

Accepted Answer

Removing Device Activation Locks (such as Apple's 'Find My' / iCloud Lock and Android's 'Reactivation Lock' / Google FRP) is essential for two key reasons: security and fast payout. First, removing the lock unlinks your personal account and secures your private data so that no personal credentials remain connected to the hardware. Second, active locks block our testing diagnostics from verifying screen functionality, battery health, and hardware integrity. Unlinking these locks before dispatch ensures our technicians can immediately inspect your device upon arrival, validating your original valuation quote and enabling same-day bank transfer payout without delay.

Question 35

How does your 'Same-Day Bank Transfer' guarantee work for trade-ins?

Accepted Answer

Our Same-Day Bank Transfer guarantee ensures that your payout is transferred directly into your UK bank account on the exact same day our testing facility receives your device. As soon as your parcel is delivered via complimentary Royal Mail tracking, our technicians complete a 20-minute diagnostic check. Once verified against your quoted condition, your funds are released instantly via UK Faster Payments. The cash typically reflects in your bank account in seconds, with zero processing charges or hidden fee deductions—making our instant bank transfer trade-in one of the fastest and most trustworthy in the UK.

Question 36

Do you provide GDPR-compliant data destruction for internal storage on business and educational devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. We provide complete, GDPR-compliant data sanitisation and destruction for all internal storage on traded-in smartphones, tablets, and laptops. For our corporate, school, college, and organizational partners, every internal storage drive undergoes multi-pass sanitisation and secure cryptographic wiping. This permanently and irreversibly destroys all confidential files, emails, passwords, and organizational data beyond forensic recovery, ensuring total compliance with the UK Data Protection Act and GDPR standards.

Question 37

Can I get a custom offer if my device or model is not listed on the website?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! If your exact model, capacity, or condition is not listed on the website, or if you have multiple devices to sell, you can request an instant Custom Offer. Simply message our Birmingham team on WhatsApp at 07423 124321 or call 0121 772 7521 for an immediate personalized cash appraisal, payable same-day in-store or nationwide via free Royal Mail QR post.
